Should you lose your spot as chairman of a company for your personal political beliefs?
Jonathan Crutchley, co-founder of gay hook-up site Manhunt.net, made a $2,300 contribution to John McCain’s presidential campaign, the maximum allowed. Although the transaction took place last March, it has just now come to light. Following a shit storm of controversy from the gay community, Jonathan has stepped down from the board for his actions.
It’s clearly a very sensitive subject for the gay community. The Republican party has taken great measures to make gay rights a wedge issue for their party. Showing any amount of support for a Republican candidate these days is considered the ultimate blasphemy in most gay social circles.
But some gay people still choose to support McCain, and the Republican party in general. Although they may not agree with McCain’s views on gay equality, some do agree with his other policies, and therefore have chosen to throw their support his way.
So should Jonathan Cruthley be able to support who he wants? Well, technically, of course he can. That’s one of the perks of being an American. HOWEVER, Manhunt.net is funded directly by the gay community. It’s most likely that that $2,300 contribution came right out of the pockets of gay men… more specifically horny gay men cruising for sex.
Critics also claim that Manhunt.net brings in $2.4 Million per month, making it one of the most lucrative gay websites in history. They go on to say Manhunt.net has given very little money at all to gay related non-profit groups that support equality, as well as safe sex education and treatment for HIV/AIDS. So how can someone donate the maximum amount to a Republican candidate, but give very little at all to organizations that directly support our community?
I guess the bottom line is that it’s Cruthley’s choice, and he can do whatever he wants with the money. I’m personally not very upset with it. Do I think it’s poor judgment? Yes. I strongly disagree with McCain’s policies, and even if he supported gay rights, I still wouldn’t vote for him because I think he’s all wrong about his foreign policies and ties to the oil companies.
So I don’t really think he should have stepped down. I should note that stepping down will not make him stop supporting McCain. But on the other hand, I do see where it would be very upsetting to the gay community if he stayed, and it would no doubt have cost the company to lose most of its customers if he hadn’t stepped down.
What are your thoughts?

If there were ever an award for the most self absorbed person in reality TV history, I feel fairly confident it would go to Jessie Godderz, a current contestant on Big Brother 10.
I really don’t think I’ve ever seen someone who loves himself that much. If you’ve been watching the show, you know what I mean.
Now some very interesting photos of Jessie are popping up on the internet. Included with the photos are rumors that Jessie is gay. I’m not entirely shocked to hear this news. There have been a couple of times when he threw tantrums, and when he did, his hands started flailing around in a way that only we gay men know how to do. Consider it one of our trademarks.
And yeah, these photos are pretty homoerotic. You can always use that excuse “gay for pay”, but I get the feeling he’s really “gay for dick”.
He does look pretty hot in these photos. I love the one with him posing in the kitchen with a can of Febreze and a candle burning. He must have had beans for dinner that night. But anyway, his personality overshadows any physical attractiveness.
The only way this guy could have a relationship would be if he came with a permanent mute button installed.
What do you think? Gay or straight?

It all started when this mysterious beast washed up on the shores of Montauk, NY. On Tuesday, a photo of it was posted on Gawker.com
With its unusual beak and sharp teeth, rumors quickly spread that it was a “monster”. Was it some kind of turtle without a shell, a dog with a decomposed snout, a pig? WTF?
The mystery continued to unfold, and since the exact whereabouts of the body are unknown, people decided it was all a hoax… That is until witnesses started coming forward claiming they too had seen the body on the beach.
Now new photos have surfaced, taken by a different person. In these shots, it just kind of looks like a dog. Not nearly as interesting as a monster, I know. And the “beak” was actually just the bone of the nose, taken at a strange angle.
I actually have a theory of my own. It’s a creature sent by God to punish us all for trying to legalize gay marriage. The Bible thumpers always warned us that bad things would happen if queers started getting married. Too bad God forget to make the creature water proof. But hey, the universe wasn’t created in a day. Sending a creature to punish us all for gay marriage might take a few prototypes to get it right.
I often hear gay men say if they had a choice, they wouldn’t be gay. When I ask them to explain, they say “Who would want to be born an outcast when you could be born to have a normal life?”
If I had a choice, I would still choose to be gay. Yep, I said it. And I have never heard another gay man say that.
I love being gay. The man-to-man connection. I love every part of a man. Physical, emotional, mental… men are just different, and it’s a difference I enjoy.
And being gay provides a sexual versatility that only two men can experience. Can a man and a woman experience what it’s like to be both the penetrative and receptive partner? No. Can two women experience it? No. It’s something special only two men can have where they truly get equal opportunities for the exact same pleasures.
I’m certainly not downplaying the special bond heterosexual couples or lesbians have. They obviously have their own their own pleasures and they’re entitled to them.
I’m just saying for me personally, there’s nothing I’d rather be than gay. No matter what challenges or homophobia I have experienced in my life, I would never trade them to be a different person. I am truly and undoubtedly comfortable in my own skin as a gay man.
So I’m curious about my readers. If you could choose your sexuality, would you still be gay?

We spent yesterday in downtown Nashville for the 8 hour concert known as the Butt Pirates Tour. Rodney tells me that’s not the real name, but I prefer to make up things as I go along. Hey, it’s the South. We can get away with shit like that. I think the Butt Pirates Tour is a much better promotional tagline, don’t you?
So the day started at 3:30 with Gary Allan, proceeded by LeAnn Rimes. During LeAnn’s set, she brought her cousin on stage, where he proposed to his girlfriend. I know you see it all the time in Kate Hudson movies, but does any girl truly want to be proposed to in front of thousands of drunk, screaming audience members? I’m just saying…
LeAnn’s performance was one-upped again when a a small riot started in the stands. A guy who looked exactly like Kenny Chesney came up into the stands and started taking pictures with people. Within minutes, there was a large crowd forming around him and security had to break it up.
Things only got wilder when Sammy Haggar got on stage. I have to admit, it was an energetic performance. He said the word “pussy” a lot. The audience loved that. Yay, pussy.
After an intermission, Keith Urban took the stage. Now he’s a performer. I really enjoyed him.
Now these girls were not part of the planned performance, but they were so desperate for attention that they kept going until people took their pictures. They were loud, drunk, and downright slutty. The one in the brown vest did things with the American flag that I’m pretty sure are considered unpatriotic. At least those stripper classes finally paid off.
The final act was Kenny Chesney. I’ve always had a fantasy about him being the meat in a sandwich of Keith Urban and Tim McGraw. I suppose the expression on his face would be something like this…
Although I’m not a big fan of country music, I did have a fantastic time. The weather was amazingly nice too. We left early to beat the traffic, and heard Sugarland take the stage as a surprise guest as we were leaving. Too bad… Rodney would have loved to have seen them.
