Nathan Exposed: the naked truth about my gay life

Never underestimate the power of a rumor… especially here in the South.

When I was out on Friday at 3PM, I noticed there were some pretty big lines at the gas stations. Most had cars lined all the way out on the street. I played through a list of national holidays in my head. Hmmm, none that I could think of. Why would everyone be getting gas at 3PM on a Friday afternoon?

When I got back home at 5, I noticed the lines were even worse. Things were really starting to concern me. Had something horrible happened in the world and I missed it?

On the news, I heard that there was a rumored gas shortage. The whole city and surrounding suburbs had people panicking and lining up for gas. Some were in line for an hour or more. Security had to be dispatched to the gas stations to keep everyone calm. Gas stations actually did run out of gas! By evening, there wasn’t anywhere you could go for gas.

Did Nashville get hit by a hurricane? No. Did Nashville get hit by a tornado or some other natural disaster? No.

According to CNN, it was simply a rumor. (Yes, we made national news.)

There was no gas shortage in Nashville, but due to the crazy rumor, we actually did run out of gas!

Every other area in the state of Tennessee has gas. We are the only numb nuts without it. All of this because of everyone bought gas on the same day. Wow.

(Sidenote: It has not been confirmed whether this was all due to a rumor, or if we actually did have a shortage. I certainly don’t want to start any new rumors! But no other area in the state ran out of gas, so I have to think it was due to public panic, not an actual shortage.)
