Dear friends,
I’ve noticed a drastic change in the tone of my fellow bloggers and their readers who comment.
Last Thursday night, the positive energy for the Democrats to win this November was at an all time high. People were inspired, moved to tears, and ready to win. But starting on Friday, moods took a drastic turn for the worst as people said “This is awful, we can’t deal with McCain-Palin in the White House, let’s throw in the towel now.”
But wait, my fellow Americans! We must remember that the people have the power. You don’t have to deal with McCain-Palin in the White House if you don’t want to. You have a choice. Regardless of race, gender, sexuality, income, or disability, you get an equal say in the matter. You don’t have to take it anymore.
Hold on to that hope for a better President. You and I may have made up our minds to vote Democrat months ago, but the swing voters can change the direction of everything. If they see you quit, maybe they’ll quit too. Maybe they’ll give up the dream of a safer, more prosperous country. So I say to you — don’t give up, don’t give in. Don’t let your doubts influence the decision of others.
Hope is easy to have when everything is sunny and bright. We’re getting down to the nitty gritty, and sometimes it’s hard to endure. But true hope means holding on even when times are tough, not when they’re easy.
I want you to know that I vividly remember the 1992 election that made Bill Clinton our President. The critics said he was “too young, too inexperienced.” Does that sound familiar? Well he proved that it didn’t matter what critics said or thought. The people had a voice, they cast their votes and they made the decision for our country.
So don’t you give up now. Remember that swing voters might make their decision in November when they step into that voting booth.
Let’s give them a sense of hope that will stay fresh in their heads every day. Let’s give them so much encouragement that America really can be better, and never allow an ounce of doubt that Obama-Biden can’t or won’t win.
Never underestimate the power of your voice. With your words and stories, you can influence millions of people.
Give hope a chance, and make sure everyone knows it.
Onward to the future,
Nathan
