Nathan Exposed: the naked truth about my gay life

Am I the only one who has noticed the back and forth bickering between Democrats and Republicans about abortion? Let me check my calendar… I think I’ve been transported back to 1973 in some magical time machine.

Despite all the more important things that were going on in the world, Republicans managed to make gay marriage the wedge issue of 2004, a topic I’ll always believe got George Bush into a second term. By feeding off the deeply embedded homophobia in America’s society, he managed to convince a nation of voters that gay people were a bigger threat to our country than the war in Iraq.

Well now, little by little, I see abortion becoming a hot topic again.

On a personal stance, I am very much against abortion. But on a political stance, I don’t believe our government has any jurisdiction over a woman’s womb! Abortion is a personal issue, not a political issue. And we don’t need it to become the wedge issue of 2008.

We have much bigger fish to fry and I am not that interested in resurrecting a debate from 35 years ago. Welcome to the 21st century, my friends.

Right on big boy. I’m with you 100%. I wonder if we’ll ever be able to get ahead to where we need to be.

Unfortunately the government does have jurisdiction over our bodies with drug laws, seat belt laws, motorcycle helmet laws, and the death penalty.
