Nathan Exposed: the naked truth about my gay life

Here’s a random story that crossed my mind while on the topic of class reunions…

Once upon a time in high school, there was a girl named Rhonda Wilson. She was a nice girl, heart of gold, but Rhonda wasn’t on the top of the list to be asked to the spring dance by the boys. Oh, and she was also a bit butch. I’m not saying she was a lesbian, but she was more man than a lot of guys I knew. She also loved using power tools in shop class.

I, on the other hand, was a bit lanky and a bit nerdy, and wasn’t on the top of anyone’s list either. I was also a bit girly. This was before metrosexuals, of course. Now so many guys are girly, I can’t even tell who is gay or straight anymore.

For whatever reason, I decided to ask Rhonda to the dance. So there we were. A girly gay boy next to a strapping young lady. Yes indeedy.

At some point during the dance, I think Rhonda wanted a little tongue action. Bleh. I didn’t want to make out with a member of the opposite sex (sorry ladies). So I told Rhonda’s best friend that I wasn’t interested in her that way, and of course she went and told Rhonda. While this news did upset Rhonda, at least it got me out of the tongue action. :)

It all worked out. Rhonda ended up dating my friend, who also happened to be gay… and lanky, nerdy, girly… They lasted almost a year. Impressive. I wonder if she wore a strap-on?

I don’t know what ever happened to Rhonda, but she sure knows how to pick the wrong men. As for my gay friend that she dated… he once spent the night and offered to suck my toes. I didn’t let him, but I’ve always regretted turning him down. Who knows? It could have been fun. At minimum, it would have made a great story for decades to come. Oh well.

I wonder if Rhonda ever found herself a nice gay man to settle down with? One thing is certain… I bet she has a set of power tools in the garage that puts every man in her neighborhood to shame.

I cannot stand people who lie. Next to murder, it is the ultimate sin in my book, and something I have absolutely no patience for.

I am about to bust this can of worms wide open and expose proof that Rey is the BIGGEST LIAR I’ve encountered in my 3 years as a blogger.

Let’s start with a chat conversation from 8/25/08 at 2:40PM. Thankfully I’m smart enough to keep a copy of all chat conversations in case I need to reference them later.

Rey said:

no, i have a fuckin’ crisis at work
    one of my clients died

His client died? Oh, dear. Sounds serious. Let’s find out more. Rey said:

i’m dealing with a client bawling her eyes out because her husband was killed last night

I’m confused. I thought the client died? Okay, now the spouse is the client? And someone was killed? Yikes. So I asked some normal questions that anyone would have asked upon hearing this news. Rey refused to answer them. Finally, I asked who the client was. Rey said:

fuck off. i’m done with this convo

Ouch, pretty harsh words. I don’t see any reason for such anger when I asked a normal question about a murder victim’s identity.

Rey was lying, and I knew it. I’ve caught him in his lies many times in the 3 years I’ve known him. They were always so small, I just chose to overlook him. Unfortunately Rey has a very poor memory, which isn’t ideal for compulsive liars.

Anyway, a few days later, Rey posted a completely different version on his blog, thus exposing his trail of lies.

In the post, he stated that Steve Foley, drummer for The Replacements, had died of a drug overdose.

Wow, that’s odd. In Rey’s chat, I thought he said a client was killed. There’s a big difference between being killed (as in shot, murdered) and dying of a drug overdose, don’t you think?

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Rey linked to an article, which showed Steve died on August 16th. But in Rey’s chat, he very clearly states that this person died the night before, which would have been August 24. Get your facts straight, Rey.

In the post, Rey’s story differs drastically in contrast to what he told me in our chat. He told me Steve was a client (or his wife was, I guess Rey couldn’t decide which). This was false. The Replacements haven’t had an album since 1990, when Rey was 20 years old. Do you really think he’s their publicist 18 years later? Rey also told me the band was on the verge of a meltdown, yet oddly enough, he made no mention of them being a client in his post. In fact, the post makes it sound like he just met this Steve guy one time in the late 1990s.

The plot thickens as Rey says in his post:

I got a phone call on Monday morning from a friend of mine. She was still in shock and I spent a good part of the morning, talking to her about him.

What an interesting change of story, Rey. So in our chat, you told me you were talking to his wife, and now you’re saying you were just talking to a friend? And why is it that his wife (or your “friend”, whichever the fuck you decide it was) is having a one week delayed reaction? The funeral was already over and done with. As a publicist, you had no idea your client was dead for a full week? Oh, wait, according to you, he’d just died the night before.

Oh, and let’s talk about this timeline. Your post says you talked in the morning, but during your chat, which was at 2:40PM your time (mid-afternoon), you claimed you had just got on the phone with her. Again, your story and timeline fail to match up.

The bottom line is that Rey was lying about death, which is no joking matter. We’d had a misunderstanding earlier in the day, in which I made a comment about bars and he took it way out of context, telling people that I’d said he just goes to bars for sex. That’s not even close to what I said about him. Why would I say such a mean-spirited thing?

So when I tried to smooth it out with him, that’s when he told me was dealing with death and couldn’t discuss the matter further. I knew right then and there that this guy was taking me for a ride, so I called him out on it. The more I probed, the more I knew that nobody had died and he was making the whole thing up. He couldn’t even supply a name until half a week later when he found the article about Steve on Google.

When Rey realized he could no longer dodge the questions about who died, he went into a temper tantrum, telling me he never wanted to speak to me again and saying our friendship was over. Naturally I was hurt. But when you’re caught in a lie, I guess it’s easier to drop a friend than to just admit your lie and ask forgiveness.

I have been furious about it all week, but I decided I would keep my mouth shut and just let it go if Rey did. But he didn’t. He wrote that blog post, claiming I had harassed him during a time of mourning… spreading all those lies about me to make me out as some monster. And our mutual friends have been treating me differently too. I have no doubt that Rey has been spreading rumors about me behind the scenes.

I’m sure I could go on for 6 more pages with examples of the shitty things Rey has done to me over the years. He has started fights between me and other bloggers, then found ways to come out smelling like roses and deflecting the fault on me. He has openly admitted on his blog that he created fake identities and fake blogs, and isn’t it convenient that whenever some mysterious stalker is harassing our circle of friends, Rey seems to be somehow involved? Hmmm, maybe Rey was the one doing it all along?

And who can forget the time Rodney and I went to meet Rey in New York last February? Rey dropped us off at a bar in the middle of New York City and said he’d be right back. But he never came back. Instead, he went to a couple of other bars, had some beers, then stopped for some pizza. We called him for 2 hours, and he didn’t answer his phone. (He later claimed the battery was low.)

Thankfully a couple of Rey’s friends were at the bar, so we had to recruit them to drive us around to find Rey’s drunk ass, and at 2 o’ clock in the morning, we finally got back to our hotel safely.

Well I’ve had it with you and your lying, Rey. You made your biggest enemy when you started lying about me. You need to just own your faults and stop spreading lies about innocent victims like me.

If you were smart, you’d shut down your blog and disappear from the blogging scene. But your past record has proven that you’re not smart, so I’m sure you’ll get caught lying again by someone else who catches on to your games.

Hopefully people will be wise enough to see you for who you truly are now. You did all this to yourself. Nobody is to blame but you.

Just know that the more you continue to try and smear my name as an honest person, the more I’m going to expose you as a liar.

Come out with your hands up. You’re surrounded…

I am a member of a social network run by Homo Superior. Let’s just cut to the chase — it’s a site for guys to look at porn, okay? :)

A few weeks ago, Mr. Homo (tee-hee) sent out an e-mail to everyone saying he was going to ban their accounts if they didn’t post a photo on their profile.

Well that pushed all the wrong buttons with me. People join porn sites because they want to anonymously check out hot guys having sex. If I wanted to post a photo of myself, I would have done it already.

But I digress. I decided he would do whatever he wanted. It’s his site, so that’s fine.

Then I got another message saying I was banned. Ooh, that pushed my buttons. I wrote a scathing e-mail, telling him how offensive I thought it was to force people to post a photo when it has absolutely no value to him whatsoever.

Just before sending, I took a step back and decided to not send it afterall. It is his site and I must respect his feelings. So if he wanted to ban me, it was fine with me.

Well then tonight, my friend Daniel wrote me and said “Hey, you need to post your photo on Homo Superior’s site”.

What??? How did Daniel know I had an account with Homo Superior? So I asked, and he told me it was listed on the Homepage.

Sure enough, there was a message about me. It really gave me a smile. It said:

…everyone without an avatar is banned now. Except for gordon, who is a meatspace dear friend of mine, and an Internet noob, and nathan, who runs the nathanexposed blog

How adorable. I am 1 of 3 people that he decided to keep around. I’m flattered.

Okay, so you win, Mr. Homo. I posted a photo of my feet. That’s all you’re getting, sweetheart. If you want to see my mug, you’ll just have to keep coming to this site.

Oh, and Mr. Homo, just because I posted a photo doesn’t mean your policy isn’t still stupid. :) xoxo

Am I the only one who has noticed the back and forth bickering between Democrats and Republicans about abortion? Let me check my calendar… I think I’ve been transported back to 1973 in some magical time machine.

Despite all the more important things that were going on in the world, Republicans managed to make gay marriage the wedge issue of 2004, a topic I’ll always believe got George Bush into a second term. By feeding off the deeply embedded homophobia in America’s society, he managed to convince a nation of voters that gay people were a bigger threat to our country than the war in Iraq.

Well now, little by little, I see abortion becoming a hot topic again.

On a personal stance, I am very much against abortion. But on a political stance, I don’t believe our government has any jurisdiction over a woman’s womb! Abortion is a personal issue, not a political issue. And we don’t need it to become the wedge issue of 2008.

We have much bigger fish to fry and I am not that interested in resurrecting a debate from 35 years ago. Welcome to the 21st century, my friends.

Last week, I had a debate with a gay man over universal healthcare. He has decided that he is going to vote for John McCain because he is against universal healthcare.

Because this is America, we have a system that gives us a choice. Since this person I was talking to feels this way, he has the right to vote for McCain and to oppose universal healthcare. But the sad part is this man is very misinformed about what universal healthcare is. He thinks it’s a big ploy to make Americans with jobs pay for “lazy people” who don’t work so they can leech off him and get coverage too. Ultimately, this man thinks that universal healthcare is going to steal from his paycheck in order to help others.

This is simply untrue. Please allow me to tell you why…

The Bush administration gives tax cuts to people who make more than $250,000 per year. Sadly, that’s the Republican way. Didn’t Robin Hood steal from the rich to give to the poor? Why are we stealing from the poor to give to the rich?

Barack Obama wants to stop giving tax cuts to the wealthy. By ending these tax cuts, we will be able to take that money and invest it towards coverage for people who need it.

So I guess this man had the idea partially right. He was afraid universal healthcare would affect him. Well if he makes more than $250,000, then yes it does. But the bigger issue is that he shouldn’t be getting a tax cut to begin with!

I am very happy for anyone who is wealthy, and they deserve their money as much as the next guy. But I don’t believe that the wealthier people in this country deserve a break. On the contrary, I think the people who can’t even afford to go to the doctor are the ones who deserve a break.

I support universal healthcare. I always have. Now as far as people being “lazy”…

It is not up to us to decide the definition of laziness. In other countries, citizens have affordable healthcare regardless of how “lazy” they may be. Laziness is a very loose term and it’s all dependent on a person’s definition. So we can’t exactly work it into a policy, now can we?

With that being said, it just makes sense to help people get coverage if they need it.

I am a prime example. I am self employed, and I pay $145 per month for health insurance. And that is minimal coverage. If I got severely sick, I would still have some very high hospital bills. Did you know that millions of Americans lose their home each year because of their medical bills? How can anyone believe people should lose their homes because they are sick? That just doesn’t sound like the American dream to me.

I called to see about getting a lower rate on my policy. The woman on the phone had to hold back her laughter as she said “I’m sorry, you’re on a budget plan. The rate you pay is actually considered to be low.”

What? I am 26-years-old. I have normal cholesterol, normal blood pressure, no history of medical problems, and $145 per month is considered a “budget” health plan? I shudder to think how much it would cost if I were 50 and had health problems.

That is why our current system is flawed. We should not discriminate against people and charge them according to their age. We all get older, we all need medical care with age. That’s a fact of life.

If you have concerns about universal healthcare, I encourage you to download this PDF from Barack Obama’s website, which covers the frequently asked questions about it.

You will find that nobody will be forced to use universal healthcare if they don’t want it. If you are happy with your current coverage, it will stay the same, and might even be lower.

Sometimes change makes people nervous, and I respect that. But we just can’t afford 4 more years of the same old stuff from Washington… the rich getting richer, the poor getting poorer.

Well my fun days as a guy with black hair are now over. I really liked it too. But it’s very hard to have black hair when your natural hair color is light brown. I was starting to look like neapolitan ice cream when the lighter hair grew under the dark hair, and then I had a mixed shade in the areas where the black was fading. So I literally had 3 hair colors going on.

Unless I wanted to color my hair every 2 weeks, I had to go back to my regular color. I considered buying some light brown hair dye, but if it didn’t turn out to be the right shade, I would once again be in the same boat of having one hair color growing in underneath another.

So last Saturday, I cut it all off. It’s not my favorite look, but it’s nice to have a fresh start sometimes.

I’m sure Daniel will be sadly disappointed. He told me one day that my black hair made me look like a dominating leather daddy and the only thing missing was a pair of chaps. I guess we’ll always have the memories of black hair, won’t we?

10 years ago, I was a scared and confused young boy in high school. My parents had told me I would go to hell for being gay. My peers called me names like “fagott” and “queer”. I lived in a small midwestern town and felt the whole world was against me. I felt as if nobody was supporting me or standing up for me. I felt like a second class citizen.

But last night, Senator Kennedy, a 76-year-old heterosexual man, stood before the world and said this:

Barack Obama will close the book on the old politics of race and gender, and group against group, and straight against gay.

And the audience cheered!

I have a voice in this world. I have a team fighting for my equality. I have a nation coming together right now as I write this, opening up its views and realizing I am a person too.

Someday, the fight will be over. Someday, there will not be any more scared boys and girls in high school who feel the whole world is against them.

And it will be in my lifetime!

Some of you may have noticed that as I’ve updated my website design, I’ve also modified my tagline. It used to read “The naked truth about my gay life” but now the word “gay” has been removed.

When I started this blog in 2005, I was still nursing the wounds of many years of endured homophobia. And at the time, I felt it important to define my blog as a “gay” blog.

But 3 years later, I am no longer nursing wounds. I am no longer defined by my sexuality. This is a “human” blog, not a “gay” blog.

As you can see by my recent posts, I am very inspired by what’s going on in the world right now. I am passionate, and opinionated, and pushing for change. And I see things getting better every day. :)

I have a voice. And in politics, I feel that I am finally being heard.

If you didn’t see Senator Kennedy’s speech at the Democratic convention last night, no doubt you’ll be hearing about it around the water cooler today.

I was so moved by it, and clearly the audience was too. What an exciting time in history. When I was a little boy, my father used to tell me about great events of his life in years before I was born. And someday, when I’m a father, 2008 is a year I know I will tell our children about. It’s a historic year, and I think this speech is going to set the tone for this coming election.

Here’s the video, in case you missed it:

Border Fence Floods
(Photo courtesy of AP/National Park Service)

A few weeks ago, I discussed how I felt that investing $157 Million into a wall around Sand Diego was a bad idea. The idea is to stop illegal immigrants from crossing over. Many of you chimed in to say that you agree something better needs to be done to alleviate immigration problems.

Well now we’re already seeing proof of what havoc these walls can create.

Residents of southwest Arizona were flooded when a newly built wall kept all the debris and water from flowing its natural course.

In fact, it turns out there were environmental laws in effect to prevent this very thing from happening. But Homeland Defense Secretary Michael Chertoff overrode these laws in an effort to quickly build 670 miles of walls against Mexico. There are 2,000 miles of border between Mexico and the U.S., and these types of walls would cover more than 33% of them.

Listen up, people. We need to think about the environmental impacts it’s going to have if we stop the flow of 33% of a border. Where is the water going to go? Once the ground is saturated, there’s nowhere for it to go except up. I don’t think anyone wants that.

We can’t just build a big wall around the U.S. We need stiffer laws to hold employers accountable for paying illegal immigrants under the table. We need more background checks. The system is flawed, and no wall can fix that.

Progress starts right here at home.

This Manhunt.net experiment is really fun!

In a post from last week, I mentioned that I had set-up a fake profile with a very simple bio:

test to see what everyone is so upset about

I really just wanted to see what all the fuss was about when the Manhunt co-founder donated money to John McCain. I was surprised when my very simple profile had generated so many sexual offers from strangers.

So I decided to have some fun. I updated my profile with this:

Do you remember contractions in grade school? The contraction of “you are” is “you’re”… NOT “your”. If I get a message that says “your hot”, I’m going to assume you are an 8-year-old that has hijacked daddy’s computer, because no grown man should be that bad with his grammar.

My new profile has doubled the messages I get per day! Guys think it’s hilarious and write me messages thanking me for educating people. Haha!

One guy decided to joke back. He wrote:

    u no…hoo..givs a ratz azz

A message this bad certainly deserves a reply… Although he was kidding and really doesn’t write like that (I checked out his profile). But who could pass up the opportunity to write back? So I said:

You poor guy. Okay, let’s start from the top:

    u = You (”u” is a letter, not a word)

no = know (while “no” is a real word, it is intended for responses, as in “yes or no” answers)

    hoo = Who

    givs = gives

a = a (congratulations, you actually got this one right)

rats = rat’s (we use an apostrophe to show ownership)

azz = ass (sorry, that wasn’t even a word at all)

That’s today’s lesson at Manhunt.net. Class dismissed. :)
