Nathan Exposed: the naked truth about my gay life

Even though some won’t admit it, guys are often just as image conscious as women are. Not to say that looks are everything, but everybody owns a mirror. So on level, we all care.

I’m not a fashion expert, so I’ll leave that to someone else. But there are some things I’ve picked up on that can help anyone:

Hello Bright Eyes:

You can have the perfect body, the perfect clothes, the perfect haircut… but if your eyes are bloodshot, you’re going to be lacking. A person’s eyes can be very sexy, and have a bigger influence on your appearance than you may realize. Grab any magazine and look at the cover model’s eyes. Notice how the bright and white they are. Now look at yours in the mirror. Do you see a difference?

The first thing all photographers do is whiten a model’s eyes. You won’t find one model on any major magazine cover that doesn’t have enhanced eyes. It’s a little secret that packs a big punch, making any person look more attractive.

Whenever I’m going to meet with a client, I put a few drops of Visine in each eye (make sure you take your contacts out first!). It makes my eyes glow and it really has impact. Just don’t do it daily, I think that’s probably unhealthy.

Make-up for Men:

Laugh if you want, but the market for men who wear make-up is growing by the year. It’s become so popular that some companies have started making their product packaging look more gender neutral so men don’t feel embarrassed. There are even companies that offer alternative versions of their products that have discreet packaging so it doesn’t look like make-up.

The way men wear make-up is much different than women. A woman generally wants to soften her features and make her lines, wrinkles, and pores seem blurred. They also want to even out their complexion.

For men, you actually don’t want to soften your features because that will make you look overly feminine. Instead, it’s best to use a fine powder and lightly dust it over your face. Then, take a damp washcloth and very lightly press it against your face to remove excess powder. That’s what I do.

I then go over the areas where powder shows the most, like the nostrils, cheekbones, and around my eyebrows. You don’t want much of it there because it shows up a lot in certain lighting. Your real goal is just to blur your forehead, cheeks, and nose, without looking like a drag queen.

Just Say “No” to Lip Smegma:

Chapstick is mandatory. I don’t know how anyone lives without it. The first and obvious reason is because it keeps your lips soft. Nobody wants to talk to you if your lips are crusty and dead skin is hanging off them.

But the second reason it’s important is to avoid what I call “lip smegma”. Has anyone ever been talking to you and some piece of white slime from their mouth gets stuck on their lips, and then it spreads each time they open their mouth, eventually rolling into a little slime ball that they lick off?

*shudders* Chapstick will prevent this from ever happening because it coats your lips with a slick surface that lip smegma can’t stick to.

Well, that covers it. With your bright eyes, smooth skin, and soft lips, you’ll be even more handsome than you already are. All of these techniques are easy and subtle to give you an extra boost without being obvious.

I’m not sure that I would ever wear the powder, but the Chapstick and the Visine are great tips. I just have a hard time committing, but then again its been said that it takes 21 days for something to become a habit. Although, I have used the Visine in a pinch when I had the pink eye a couple of months ago and didn’t want to go out and it look obvious that I had the pink eye. Yes, I know I should not have gone out, but I did anyway.

I, for one, always have a stick of chapstick in my pocket at all times…
