Nathan Exposed: the naked truth about my gay life

This is a very touchy subject for a lot of people, so the only thing I ask that you keep an open mind for this discussion.

Ask anyone about global warming and they’ll quickly agree that we have a problem. I remember a time when it snowed on Halloween in the 1980’s. Now there are days that I can wear shorts in December. Oh yes, dear readers, something is awry.

The most popular consensus is that humans are to blame for this warming. According to one poll, 86% of American believe we are the direct cause. Those are pretty high numbers, and I’m guessing the results would be the same no matter where you took the poll.

Just because something is popular, does that mean we should automatically believe it? There was a time when the popular consensus was that the Earth was flat. We all know that’s not true now, but once upon a time, you would have been laughed at if you suggested it were round.

Al Gore has become synonymous with global warming. Millions of people consider him to be almost God-like because of all the hard work he’s done. I admire Al Gore because he’s passionate and he cares about our planet. But the fact remains that he is human. He isn’t God, and even though he can prove the Earth is getting hotter, there are still questions as to whether humans are the cause.

If you look back in documented history, there have been unusual spells of warmth throughout it. Long before we had cars and pollutants, there were years in which the climate changed drastically. Who was causing it then?

Today, there are scientists who want to speak out and say that we are not the cause of global warming. They want to discuss it in a factual, diplomatic way. The problem is that nobody will listen. If they even try to explain, people immediately try to censor them.

Why? What is so wrong with just talking about it? It’s a big deal and I think we should examine all sides. But as humans, it is just easier to accept that we are the cause. That fits nicely into a box that we can understand, because everything must be rational. Well, the Earth isn’t rational. Just because we want an explanation that aligns with our thought process doesn’t mean it’s true.

So I just wanted to put it out there. Nobody denies there is global warming, but there are very educated scientists who do believe this is just part of a natural cycle. I think we should listen to all sides, rather than letting the media tell us what to believe.

Global warming is a rather touchy subject we have only been able to keep track of actual weather for the last couple of hundred years.

But the facts remain according to scientist weather has been in constant flex for the last couple of million years. The earth is a living organism and many thinks may be able to purify itself of toxic waste similar to many other living organisms. Only problem is that “WE” may be part of those toxic wastes. Keep that in mind the next time you spray for ants.

I think we should listen to them too. Both sides should present their factual evidence so we can form an informed view.

Having said that, given where we are today in terms of industrial and technological advancement, the environment we create these days must logically be different from those in the past. On that basis alone, I do wonder what that means to our environment today.

Life is so complex that nothing can be blamed on one thing. I honestly think that there are several factors going on and that we as humans are just one of those factors. Probably a major one at that.

If you’d ask me, which you just did, I’d say we have been of some effect, but we can’t do nothing about the global warming.

Especially when you can count: CO2 isn’t the biggest “greenhouse gas,” it’s water vapor. Water vapor causes somewhere around 90% of the greenhouse effect.
          1+1=2

We can’t stop throwing water vapor in the air, because it vaporizes, like it always has, without any human cause. And like Ennis said: “If you can’t fix it, you gotta stand it.”

I understand where you’re coming from. The way I see it there are way more people on this earth than many years ago, and even more than the days of yore and of ye olde times. There has to be some effect on the earth based on the amount of minerals, water, even the amount of cows we now breed for consumption and thus increasing the amount of methane gas released into the air, and so on and so on, etc.. We mine all we can from the earth and just maybe the earth is trying to take some of it’s control back. I think that the earth can heal itself by means of hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes or what ever. All of these things are just the earth’s way of adjusting. At the same time we can try to be less greedy and make some attempt to give back to the earth. I’m just sayin’.

I find your lack of faith disturbing. Global Warming isnt about a scientific phenomenon you can observe but a conciousness changing idea that will direct humans towards a more harmonious existence with nature. Keep quiet about your observations or we’ll put you on trial like the Holocause perpetrators and deniers.

              just kidding :P

              keep up the good work

I think that while it might be part of a natural cycle, humans have contributed to the speed to which the natural cycle is progressing. I have spoken to scientists on this issue and the facts really do indicate that fossil fuels have contributed to the warming…

So, if it is natural we are having an influence (that is what I believe)…

I just think that all our industrial crud might be exacerbating the problem.

Actually, I said that just so I could use the word exacerbate.

                    i love the word exacerbate.

and this global warming stuff ’scares’ me. ive looked at both sides. and it is still tough. i really dont know what to think.

i do know that despite the natural fluctuations of the world. we. humans. arent helping the planet.

Ha! There is a report on the news right now about global warming and climate change, concentrating on the fires.

I am glad to have stumbled upon this site and couldn’t agree more with this article. Of a natural tendency to be inquisitive, I have done my own research of information of articles on “global warming”. I agree, there is much to be talked about here and I find it appauling that people are so quick to be spoon fed information on such a topic. I have always been skeptical of human’s part in the global warming theory because I think there is enough information and scientific support that could counter it. I think it is only fair we look at both opinions equally. It does make one wonder what motivating factors are behind the reasons why it has not been. Why is there a whole community of scientists and educators out there who argue human’s part in global warming being censured?

Scientifically human’s role in current global warming is settled. Thanks to Al Gore the minds of American people changed toward science in this respect.

This is by far the most popular topic ever discussed on my blog, and I am honored that so many people have jumped in to talk about it.

As you can see, there is a wide spectrum of viewpoints. While most of us agree that the Earth is getting warmer, many of you have different feelings about who or what is causing it.

Best of all, most of you are open minded enough to say “Let’s really examine this” rather than “I know it’s true because the TV told me so.”

                            I like that diversity :)
