Nathan Exposed: the naked truth about my gay life

Somebody stop the madness!

Okay, it has to be said, so listen up boys. Embedding Windows Media files on your blog is not cute. This trend needs to go away.

Years ago, there was a big boom of personal webpages. As a result, there was an overload of poor design. We’re talking animated gifs and obnoxious MIDI files that blared compterized music. Finally, people realized this was a bad idea, and the trend died out.

Now, enter the blog boom. The trend has started all over again, but this time it’s gigantic WMV files that take over your browser. I click over to a blog and suddenly my peaceful silence is interrupted with an annoying video clip buried 10 posts down in the page.

I can’t focus on the author’s content because I’m too busy looking for the STOP button.

A simple solution that will make everyone happy:

If you want to share a video clip, offer a link to the video file that opens on a different page. I do this all the time.

It’s much more user friendly. And if you don’t believe me when I say it’s annoying, take a poll. Or better yet, just search Google for articles on bad website design.

      THANK. YOU.

I’m glad somebody said it. And do not automatically have music load. That’s so freaking annoying, especially if you provide absolutely no way of turning it off.

Sorry for double posts, but I can’t edit. I also find it funny that the Google Ad on your page at this time is “Add Video to Your Blog easily” and being nice I clicked it to earn you some money and it takes you to a site to tell you how to embed WMV files.

HAHAHA!! That is so funny about the Google Ads!

They are keyword driven, so I can’t modify their content. But that’s hilarious that it displayed an ad for embedding WMV files.

            Silly Google.

Said very well. Thank you. A certain Harry Potter preview buried everywhere a while ago almost drove me to release my own dragon, Peaches, into the night for revenge.

Excellent rant! It needed to be said… only you beat me to it. And (shhhh, don’t tell anyone, but) there are a couple of blogs I’ve stopped visiting because of that nonsense/annoyance. I found you at Spider’s and thought I’d stop in, by the way.

                  Hey Steve!

OK Nathan, I took your advice and turned mine off - there are some trends that do not need to be brought back…

Thanks Spider :) You just made the world a better place!

The worse thing is - they are never music you’d want to listen to. NEVER. :P

THANK YOU!!!!! I have a mac and I loathe anything that uses windows media player and these posts inevitably spawn that wretched program. I hate my quiet blog reading time being interrupted by advertisements for bad pop culture also.

I was working on this very rant myself. Thanks for saving me the time and effort.

AGREED! GUILTY AS CHARGED…now tell me HOW to get rid of it!!! I am sick of hering the beginning of “Seasons of Love” everytime I return to my blog after reading someone elses! Eye yi yi!

It was something mew and I was into it…NOW it is quite annoying! NEVER AGAIN I SWEAR!

                                  Gosh darn it,

Just when I was getting ready to load up Winter Wonderland on my site(done with chimes of course)
Actually, I don’t even know how to do that, so I guess I am innocent by ignorance.
