toilet training the cats: quitter
I surrender! I’m a big ol’ quitter.
Operation Toilet Training is officially over. The cats won. The litter box has been released from captivity.
They started out really well using the toilet training kit. I was so excited the first time I woke up to fresh cat poo in the toilet. It was like Christmas morning.
When I switched to the flushable cat litter, that’s when things got ugly. So I switched back to the old kind, and they did start using it again, but it was never the same. It was pretty obvious they didn’t like the toilet, and they would hold out as long as possible.
If I really wanted to be a drill sargent, I could probably press on and they’d adjust. But I hate to do that. Afterall, going to the bathroom is a personal thing. I certainly wouldn’t want to go in a condition that made me uncomfortable, so why should they?
As far as the product, I can honestly say it does work. Both of our cats used the toilet, so it is possible. In my particular case, they just didn’t like the adjustment and so I give in.

Do I detect a veiled strain of bitter sadness in your post. It’s always difficult to have to admit that one’s pets actually run things, but you’ve deserve kudos for showing grace under pressure.
But did you get Rodney toilet trained in the process?
I was waiting for the YouTube video of you training them to use the flush and close the lid afterwards!
